When Jan asked me if I wanted to be the little tri-boy's mom, I had no idea what a fantastic journey that pup would take me on.  He is my sweetest momma's boy who wants to do everything, and the faster the better!  He never runs out of energy and willingness to work and he tries so hard to make sure he gets his job done right.  He is the ultimate teammate and I can't imagine my life without him.  As a trainer, he is the first dog I have earned any kind of championship with.  And although I am proud to say that Slider was owner trained and handled to all four of his championships, I must admit that Slider made it easy for me by being an exceptional dog.  It seems weird to be writing this as it sounds like the ending of a long story but my little baby boy will just turn 4 years old in September of 2007!  After finishing his breed championship when he was 17 months old, Slider has been busy and I've been trying to keep up with him! This year (2007) was the culmination of his other three championships as he earned his HC on 26 May, his OTCH on 21 July and his MACH on 18 August.  It still seems unreal that we did it!  And although the four championships came relatively quickly for Slider, it truly is the result of the years of dedication Jan DeMello, Slider's breeder, has put into her tremendous breeding program that consistently produces dogs that are capable of what Slider has accomplished.  Slider and I will continue to compete in agility and herding plus we are going to start tracking to see if we can get that elusive fifth championship.  Slider is a dream come true and this is just the beginning of that fantastic journey with my Amazing Sliderman!  Thank you Jan!!!

At the time I was contemplating adding another corgi to our household (we already had two wonderful corgis), my friend Yvonne told me that her Hob Nob BC, the Fabulous Fable, was about to be a daddy.  That’s when my head started spinning.  I was in love with Fable.  Could it really be possible to have a Fable puppy?  Could I handle a BC?  Well, if I was ever going to own a BC, this would be the time as Fable has such an awesome temperament and is darn handsome to boot!  AND, after learning more about Chisel and what a wonderful and beautiful girl she is, I knew this would be a great litter of puppies.

So, with encouragement from Yvonne, I contacted Jan and asked to be considered for a Fable/Chisel puppy.  There was a long list of hopeful people who wanted a puppy from this fantastic duo so when Jan asked if I would be the little tri-boy’s new mom, I felt like I had won the lottery!  An extra blessing was getting to know Jan and becoming a part of her extended Hob Nob family.

My boy Slider is more than I could ever have possibly dreamed for!  Not only is he gorgeous, he has the incredible intelligence, wonderful temperament, and the never quit work ethic that make

Hob Nob border collies Simply the Best!

Slider can be the most cuddly and loving Mama’s boy (with his double helping of Juice hugs) and then he can be the down and dirty - show the sheep who’s the boss - no nonsense working boy.  My nickname for him is the Overachiever as he learns so quickly and is so eager to do what I ask of him.  Whether it is obedience, agility or herding, he gives it his all, and to him it is all play!

And did I mention how handsome he is???  I started showing Slider in the breed ring when he was 8 months old, while I was showing my corgi Kirby in obedience, so that Slider could get used to going to shows and have some fun.  Well, he started winning so we kept going!  Slider won both of his majors as a 10 month old puppy and we finally got around to finishing up his championship when he was 17 months old.  Now we are concentrating on obedience, agility and herding and Slider is showing exceptional promise in all three venues.  I always look forward to hanging out with Slider as his joy for life is contagious.  Whether we are training or just snuggling on the couch watching TV, he makes me laugh and he makes me smile.  I love this dog!!!

Thank you Jan and Yvonne for my Slider!  Jo Roach, WA
